I found this easy to use open source video editor. I just needed a video joiner/merger that's easy to use as I am not experienced with video editing.

If you're using Debian, use Synaptic Package Manager. And similarly use your linux distro's package manager. Look for openshot, one word. Installs without a fuss. You will find an icon in your start menu.
